“A young girl is institutionalized by her abusive stepfather. Retreating to an alternative reality as a coping strategy, she envisions a plan which will help her escape from the mental facility.(imdb)"

This film is absolutely inspired and created by a mixture of camera shots through film and animation. The animation scenes are almost like an up-to-date mission’s challenge or action hero’s xbox game. The opening scene that introduces the protagonist “Babydoll,” throughout a couple of slow down over-dramatic dark scenes she tells the story of how she came to be in the mental asylum for girls. Also, we travel right through some action packed takes of babydoll and her all-star girl crew kicking butt and taking names later. After watching the movie 3 times, I can definitely tell that a male did the directing of this film.  Too many Male Gaze scenes, like when Babydoll is forced to sing and she imagines an alternate world where she and her badass girl posses are fighting evil invaders. Her journey is fulfilled when her path to freedom is complete. The film was entertaining but too many made for guys- action scenes lose track of relating to the main character emotional triumphant.

The Writer/Director Zack Snyder gave a lot of thought to the soundtrack of the film. Zack Snyder also the director for “Dawn of the Dead” & “Watchmen,” musical compositions of each scene where transcending and accomplish the goal of transitioning between two different parallel realities. As if we were beside them on the battlefield, there were a lot of electric guitars sounds being played in the back ground to created empathy of sound and more amps of feeling during the combat scenes
